What if collective consciousness is simply the next step of human evolution, an expression of our next level of complexity as a species, and the next step towards the ever-deeper integration of complex consciousness into the fabric of the Kosmos?
Consciousness keeps evolving to adapt to the increasing complexity of our times. Yet it seems that our new challenges are of such global proportions that individual minds cannot match the complexity we face.
Yet we continue to search for a few special leaders, to carve out a path for the rest of us to follow. And even as those leaders, in science and economics, government and academia, frustrate and fail us, we still call out for all those "theys" who should be doing more to fix the system.
Deep down, though, we know that when we look to individual experts for solutions, we are looking in the wrong place, in the wrong way.Understanding how the universe evolves can provide some clues to a new way forward. At each phase in material evolution, there is a phase of emergent compleixty. At each stage in the evolution of life, there is also a leap into a higher consciousness.
This is also true for the genesis of human conscoiusness. There is overwhelming evidence that our collective consciousness has evolved from early tribal living, where the individual was totally embedded in the life patterns of the collective; through a gradual, often painful, process of individuation, with the emergence of the sovereign person with individual autonomy and agency. Now a third phase in human consciousness is emerging. It is a form of collective intelligence where individuated, or self-actualised, individuals intentionally pool their consciousness in service to building a better world, a wholly restorative where people flourish on a thriving planet.Read the full series online at Kosmos Journal
